PROJECT
Teak decking for Futuna 57
New teak deck
Location: Mediterranean Sea, France
The Futuna 57 was the first of the Futuna sailing yachts and was designed by the renowned French yacht designer Marc Lombard and built by Futuna Yachts.
The combination of an aluminium hull, a GRP deck in sandwich construction and a carbon rig make the Futuna 57 not only unique but also a particularly fast and light blue water yacht.
The Mobilerbootsbau team templated, constructed and installed the new teak deck on the Futuna with the modern vacuum-bonding method. The side decks, the cockpit and the curved bathing platform were covered with a modern strong 10 mm teak deck and a new toe rail was installed.
Like all our teak decks, we constructed the new teak deck for the Futuna with a moisture barrier and all deck elements were installed using the vacuum-bonding method. This protects the boats superstructure and even after decades there is no danger of water penetrating the sandwich core of the GRP deck construction.
